Provider and application licence
Check First is provided by Education Host Ltd. The iOS application is licensed, not sold, under Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Apple’s Standard EULA governs the licence to download and use the iOS app.
These Check First Terms of Use supplement Apple’s Standard EULA. They apply to the Check First service, submitted checks, account-backed features and subscriptions. If these terms conflict with Apple’s Standard EULA about the licence to use the iOS app, Apple’s Standard EULA governs that licence.
What Check First does — and does not do
Check First analyses text, URLs, screenshots or photos submitted for a check and provides an estimated scam-likelihood result with plain-language explanations. A result is an estimate, not a guarantee that something is safe, genuine or fraudulent.
Always verify suspicious communications independently using contact details you already know and trust, not the telephone number, link or other contact details supplied in the suspicious communication.
Check First is not financial, legal, medical, law-enforcement or emergency-service advice. Do not rely on it instead of advice from an appropriately qualified professional, the police or emergency services.
Acceptable use
Use Check First only for lawful purposes and only submit content that you are entitled to submit. You remain responsible for deciding whether and how to act after receiving a result.
You must not misuse Check First, interfere with its normal operation, attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts or systems, evade usage allowances, or use the service to submit unlawful or harmful material. Do not use the service to harm, threaten, impersonate or unlawfully monitor another person.
Accounts, restrictions and termination
Sign in with Apple is optional and is used for account-backed Family features. Keep access to your Apple Account and device secure, and do not attempt to access another person’s Check First account without permission.
Education Host may restrict or suspend account-backed access when reasonably necessary to protect the service or its users, investigate suspected misuse, comply with a legal obligation, or respond to a serious or repeated breach of these terms. You can delete your Check First account using the in-app controls.
Deleting an account ends access to account-backed Check First features but does not cancel an Apple subscription. Subscription cancellation is handled separately through Apple.
Plans and AI-check allowances
The free plan currently provides 10 AI checks per monthly allowance window. Check First Premium currently provides 30 AI checks per monthly allowance window.
These allowances describe the production app and App Store configuration at the date shown on this page. The purchase screen in the app shows the current subscription offering before you buy.
Check First Premium subscription terms
Check First Premium is an auto-renewable annual subscription purchased through Apple. The exact localised price and annual billing period are shown by Apple before purchase; this website does not hard-code a price.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it through Apple.
- You can manage or cancel the subscription through your Apple Account subscription settings. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, then choose Check First.
- Apple handles App Store billing transactions and refund requests. Education Host cannot directly cancel or refund an App Store transaction.
- Deleting your Check First account does not cancel the associated Apple subscription.
