Who this policy applies to
Education Host Ltd provides Check First and is responsible for the Check First systems described in this policy. This policy covers the Check First iPhone app and its account-backed services. The general Education Host website privacy policy separately covers the Studio website.
Check First does not sell personal data. The production app does not perform cross-app tracking or use personal data for ad profiling.
Content submitted for a check
Text, URLs, screenshots or photos you submit are processed to produce the analysis you requested. The content is held only for that request and is not persisted by the Check First backend.
Submitted content travels through the Check First backend to the configured AI provider. The configured provider is currently Anthropic, which processes the content to produce the requested analysis. This policy does not make unverified claims about Anthropic’s own training or retention treatment.
Before an image is forwarded for analysis, image metadata such as EXIF location information is removed.
History stored on your device
Structured results and Check First History are stored locally on your device according to the app’s History settings. This local History is separate from the submitted content that passes through the backend for analysis.
Use the History settings and controls in Check First to manage or remove locally stored results. Removing local History does not by itself delete an optional Check First account or cancel an Apple subscription.
Optional account and Sign in with Apple data
Sign in with Apple is optional and is used for account-backed Family features. Check First requests an Apple sign-in subject identifier. It does not request your name or email address from Apple.
Account systems may store the account record, Apple sign-in subject identifier, active sessions, subscription entitlement, usage counts and allowance periods. Usage records do not contain the message, URL, screenshot or photo submitted for a check.
Family Circle and Safe Phrases
Family Circle features store the information needed to provide circles, memberships, invitations, review requests, responses and notification delivery.
Safe Phrases are encrypted. A Safe Phrase is not included as plaintext in a privacy export.
Apple services
Apple processes Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases and push notifications under Apple’s own terms and privacy information. Education Host receives only the information needed to connect those services to Check First, such as the Apple sign-in subject identifier and subscription entitlement.
Deleting a Check First account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Use Apple’s subscription settings to manage or cancel it.
Anonymous operational telemetry
Check First may process anonymous operational telemetry needed to monitor reliability, diagnose failures and protect the service. It is kept distinct from submitted checking content, locally stored History and account-backed data, and is not used for cross-app tracking or ad profiling.
Retention and deletion
Submitted checking content is retained only while the request is processed and is not persisted by the Check First backend. Local History remains on the device according to your History settings and actions.
Account, session, entitlement, usage and Family Circle records are retained while needed to provide and protect the account-backed features, and may be retained where necessary to meet legal, security or billing-record obligations. Use the in-app account deletion control when you want to delete your Check First account.
Access, export and deletion controls
Check First Settings provides controls to request a privacy export and to delete your account. The export covers account-backed information available for export; Safe Phrases are not included as plaintext. You can also contact Education Host to ask about access, correction, export or deletion.
Account deletion does not cancel the associated Apple subscription. The Support and Billing page explains the separate Apple cancellation process.
